All About Starlight

Our History & Mission

Mission
Starlight Counseling's mission is to help you make changes that last by taking an intentional and focused look into the environment, habits, thoughts, and other factors that have led you to seek therapy. Once your current needs are identified we will work together to create a foundation of new behaviors that will become the new habits that support the life you want to live.

Regardless of where you are in your journey our team of specialists and generalists is here to walk along side you towards reaching your goals.

History
Starlight Counseling  was founded in 2019 in response to the growing need for ongoing and non-traditional support for families that are impacted by addiction, and has since used the foundations of addiction therapy to create treatment approaches that have been applied to most mental health and coaching goals successfully.

Traditional counseling centers will refer those struggling with chronic relapse to residential treatment centers several times in a given year, with some individuals spending 2-9 months away from their family and career all for the hope that something will be different this time. At Starlight our goal is to create a comprehensive outpatient plan to help reduce the need for disruptive and costly hospitalizations in the event of a relapse.

Starlight Consulting grew out of the consulting and mediation practices Matthew uses to help businesses and families to overcome the unique challenges that addiction brings to these complex systems. Mediation for business disputes, restructuring or dissolution, along with divorce and custody disputes for families can be a drawn out process; a traditional mediator will help to save legal costs by handling negotiations without exorbitant attorney fees. A licensed professional counselor, or LPC, who is also a mediator will be able to handle the additional needs that arise when mental health or substance abuse concerns are added to the equation.

Our expanded team includes generalists and specialists who are building off the foundation of Starlight's original mission, to make mental health care more accessible, affordable, and most importantly more successful for our clients.

He holds a current professional license through the Texas Department of Health as a Licensed Professional Counselor, is a Certified Anger Management Specialist, and has received specialized training in Post Indcution Therapy (PIT) and Revisioning for trauma.

He has a background in neuroscience and experience teaching allowing him to bring a comprehensive biological and behavioral outlook to the practice of counseling. Matthew has also consulted for a variety of mental health and substance use treatment centers ranging from acute psychiatric hospitalization, residential dual diagnosis treatment for substance abuse and mental health, as well as outpatient services. Over the last several years he has worked directly with clients as a Primary Therapist at residential treatment centers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he facilitated educational lectures, group therapy, and individual counseling.

A Message from Matthew:
My journey towards helping others began as a life coach and financial services counselor and I have spent the last decade working out of residential treatment centers for addiction and dual diagnosis. My primary focus has been to work with individuals and families struggling with chronic relapse (whether it be substance use, depression, anxiety, or severe mental health diagnosis) and to create a customized treatment plan that allows my clients to have their eureka moment that helps transform knowledge of what to do into the action that transforms lives.

As an outpatient counselor my goal is to help you break the cycle of self-sabotage, learn how to rebuild trust in your relationships, and build a life that is not just about "feeling normal" but a life with a purpose that you look forward to living. Give me a call today for a free phone consultation. The most important step in every journey is always the next step, and I would be honored to take these next steps with you.

$200 per session.
$300 per hour for business consulting.

Jane Williamson
LPC - Therapist

As a Licensed Professional counselor with over 30 years experience, I've heard a lot and had the pleasure of helping many.

Many people struggle with depression and/or anxiety at some point of their lives.  Would you like an unbiased listener who knows how to guide you through this time?   Could you benefit from improving your ability to regulate stress and anxiety?  Can you improve your skills in relating to others so that your wants and needs get met? Learning the "cognitive-behavioral" part of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy) may be for you.

Considering your spiritual perspective is also available (upon request):
As our world become increasingly distant from our faith, many believers want to ensure their therapy will not overlook the spiritual components of our lives.  I have a PhD from a well-know seminary and offer a Christian perspective for those who desire this.  I do not impose my own values, but love an open discussion about faith issues.

Psychotherapy
Some people need to "go deeper" than a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach.  I'd love to understand you.  What experiences have you encountered in life that shaped the way you think and feel?  This is not about blame, but about self-awareness so that you are empowered to make choices and improve effective outcomes.  If you have experienced even minor trauma in your history, this may be impacting you today more that you realize.  EMDR and Somatic Experiencing treatments are available when these modalities are appropriate.

$175 per session. Accepts most major insurance plans. Jane has a limited number of reduced fee appointments available, for those who may need financial assistance.

Kaitlyn Fusari
LPC - Therapist

I believe that therapy should be tailored to each client individually as it is not a “one size fits all" solution. I specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and substance abuse counseling.

These approaches help with a wide range of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, and substance use disorders.

Therapy can be extremely helpful to many people, whether it is used to work on these issues, or have someone who is unbiased and non-judgmental to talk to in a safe and comfortable environment.
